Durrington All Saints C of E Infant School Pupil Premium
At Durrington Infant School:
We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the pupils;
We ensure that appropriate provision is made to support specific groups of pupils who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. These include pupils who are entitled to free school meals; those looked after by the local authority and children of armed service personnel.
In making provision for disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be disadvantaged;
We also recognise that not all pupils who are disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being disadvantaged;
Pupil premium will be allocated to the children who are identified as a priority for interventions or support, so therefore not all children in receipt of pupil premium for free school meals or military funding will have interventions at one time.
At Durrington Infants the ranges of provision we may consider for the children are:
Providing small group work with an experienced TA, focussed on closing gaps in learning e.g. numeracy, phonics, writing;
Releasing teachers to provide individual support and feedback to children on how to improve their learning – focusing on the next steps;
Releasing teachers to provide small group reading skills;
1:1 support with a TA;
Acquiring effective materials aimed at raising standards, particularly in phonics, reading and writing;
Offering free places at our Breakfast Club
Subsidising educational visits
Release time for Assistant Principal to support teaching and learning in order to raise the quality of teaching over time from good to outstanding and target the four Wiltshire priorities: Higher expectations, Increased challenge for the most able, Quality of marking and Opportunity to respond to marking.
Continuation of smaller groups for daily phonics sessions with the use of teachers to provide learning support for vulnerable children;
Daily reading support 1:1 with a TA to support vulnerable learners;
Teacher release time to support gaps in reading skills with small groups;
Teacher release time to offer 1:1 feedback on how to improve learning and looking at next steps provision;
Additional TA support time daily in the classrooms;
Providing small group work with an experienced SEN TA - nurture time;
Providing 1:1 support with an experienced SEN TA - ELSA activities;
